These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the website at tapfilterguide.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Our Accessibility Statement explains how to request help if any part of this Site is difficult for you to use.

2. What This Site Is

TapFilterGuide is an independent product-research and comparison site about water filtration for homes on treated municipal ("city") water. We research products, read specifications and certifications, and publish comparisons.

We are not a retailer, a manufacturer, a plumber, or a laboratory. We do not sell products, take orders, process payments, install anything, or test your water. We have no affiliation with any manufacturer whose products we discuss.

3. Affiliate Disclosure

This disclosure is made in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 C.F.R. Part 255). It also appears on the Site itself, near the product recommendations, so you see it before you click rather than after.

4. How We Make Recommendations

You should know how our rankings are produced so you can weigh them appropriately:

• Recommendations are based on published specifications, third-party certifications (such as NSF/ANSI standards), filtration capacity and replacement cost, installation requirements, and publicly available user feedback.
• Commission rates do not determine rankings. We do not rank a product higher because it pays more.
• No manufacturer pays us for placement, and we do not accept sponsored reviews. If that ever changes, we will say so plainly on the page in question.
• We have not personally laboratory-tested every product we discuss. Where our assessment rests on published specifications rather than hands-on testing, treat it as research, not as an independent test result.

5. Product Information & Accuracy

Prices, availability, specifications, certifications, model numbers, and filter-replacement costs change frequently and often without notice. Information on this Site was believed accurate when published and may be out of date by the time you read it.

Always verify current details on the retailer's or manufacturer's own page before buying. The retailer's listing controls, not ours. We are not responsible for pricing errors, discontinued models, or changed specifications.

6. Water Quality Is Not Our Expertise

Water quality varies enormously by municipality, by building, and even by fixture. No filter removes every contaminant, and choosing the wrong filter for your actual water can leave you with a false sense of security.

If you have specific concerns — lead service lines, well water, PFAS, bacteriological contamination, or a health condition that makes water quality critical — do not rely on this Site. Consult your local water utility's annual Consumer Confidence Report, have your water tested by a certified laboratory, and speak with a licensed plumber or environmental-health professional. If you believe your water is unsafe, contact your local health department.

Installation of whole-house and under-sink systems may require a licensed plumber and may be subject to local plumbing codes and permit requirements. Improper installation can cause water damage. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

7. Purchases, Returns & Warranties

Every purchase you make is a transaction between you and the retailer, not with us. We are not a party to it. All questions about payment, shipping, delivery, damage, defects, returns, refunds, and warranty service must go to the retailer or the manufacturer.

We make no warranty of any kind regarding any product discussed on this Site. Product warranties, where they exist, are provided by the manufacturer on their own terms.

This Site links to third-party websites, including retailers, manufacturers, and standards organizations. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, pricing, privacy practices, accessibility, or availability. Linking is not an endorsement beyond what we say in our own words. The original text, comparisons, layout, and design of this Site are owned by us and protected by U.S. and international copyright law. You may view and print content for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, republish, scrape, or create derivative works from our comparisons without prior written consent.

14. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms and any dispute arising out of your use of the Site are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. You and we agree first to attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute by direct discussion for thirty (30) days. If it is not resolved, either party may file suit in a state or federal court located in Nebraska, and both parties consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing here limits any right you have to bring a claim in small-claims court or to contact a consumer-protection regulator.

15. General Provisions

• Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site.
• Severability. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in full force.
• No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
• Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a sale or transfer of the Site.
• No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms do not create rights in any third party.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top shows when the current version took effect. If you continue to use the Site after a change, you agree to the updated Terms.
